Commercial property agents HMH Golf & Leisure have been instructed to sell Sherdley Park Golf Course in Merseyside, a highly profitable golf business with a driving range site perfect for redevelopment and which has direct A road frontage.

Facilities at the 161-acre, St Helens-based venue include an 18-hole parkland golf course (5,884 yards, par 71) which first opened in 1973; a recently refurbished modern clubhouse; an attractive walled garden suitable for alternative uses; substantial greenkeepers area with a range of outbuildings; and an 11-acre disused driving range site with separate road access with scope for complete redevelopment to include Adventure Golf or Padel Tennis, subject to planning permission.

The club has a 144-year lease from St Helens Council for which it pays an annual rent of £30,000.The guide sale price is £2.75m for the whole site or £2.4m excluding the driving range site.

Tom Marriott at HMH Golf & Leisure commented: “This is an opportunity to acquire a very attractive fully refurbished golf course and clubhouse. The club is centrally located in St Helens, adjoining the popular Sherdley Park. The business has an excellent turnover and profitability. Currently there are few golf clubs available in the market and we expect strong interest.”
